LivingWell Cancer Resource Center opens new site


• Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns, center above, and Batavia Mayor Jeff Schielke attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 7 at the new home of the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, 442 Williamsburg Ave., Geneva. The center is a vital component to comprehensive cancer care and offers comfort to anyone experiencing the effects of cancer. For more information about the center, call 630-262-1111.


• The annual Hope for Haitians 5K walk and run will take place at 8:30 a.m. May 12 at the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., (Route 31) Geneva.  The registration fee is $25 for adults and $20 for children ages 6 to 10. Registration will begin 7 a.m. An awards ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. The event will include live music, face painting and other activities. Proceeds from the event will benefit humanitarian relief efforts in Haiti.


• The Waubonsee Community College Foundation will conduct its 25th annual golf outing May 23 at the Whitetail Ridge Golf Club, 7671 Clubhouse Drive, Yorkville. The registration fee is $175 per golfer or $700 per foursome. The fee will include 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, dinner, beverages and chances to win a variety of games. The registration deadline is May 16. The event benefits scholarship programs and other activities at the college.
