Cantigny Park in Wheaton will commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day with a variety of activities on Saturday, June 7. Programs will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Division Museum, the Robert R. McCormick Museum and the Cantigny Visitors Center.
Visitors will have an opportunity to meet World War II veterans who participated in D-Day, the Allied invasion of Nazi-occupied France on June 6, 1944. Visitors also will have an opportunity to view a Higgins boat, a WW II landing craft. On D-Day, members of the 1st Infantry Division were carried to Omaha Beach, one of five invasion beaches, in Higgins boats.
Cantigny Park will offer activities for all ages during the event. The park is located at 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. For more information, 630-668-5161.
